My role as team leader of the foreign teachers is to ensure the team is functioning well, that the school relationship continues to be strong. Further more, the teaching must be of a high standard and continue to improve while community and cultural adaptation must be in place and develop positively

      I have found the No.1 Senior Senior High School to be a very good school with friendly students. In fact I have returned for a second year of teaching here. Long Hua, the FEC coordinator is a very professional lady and I have enjoyed working with her, to continually improve the standard of education, for our Chinese English students.

      Previously I worked as a journalist, both within Australia and abroad, for over twenty five years then went into the Australian Government as a policy advisor, particularly in education, working closely with the government minister.

      I have three grown sons, who are now married and have children of their own. They are very proud, and interested, in what I am doing in China and are always asking me for photos of the beautiful city of Yichang, and the surrounding areas, so they can show friends

      I would like to continue teaching English so we can all work together to make this the best English speaking school in China. Education is changing rapidly in China, but it is also changing in other parts of the world and will continue to do so. The important thing is that China, while taking her place on the world stage does not lose its Chinese culture.

      Yichang itself is a very interesting city to visit, of course, the Three Gorges  Dam, the largest construction project in the world, is a must see for anyone who comes here. The people themselves are very polite and friendly and smile in welcome when they see you on the street. The cost of living is very inexpensive but it is the beautiful countryside that surrounds the city that is of constant delight.  Many pleasant days can be spent exploring and enjoying the beautiful fresh food that are found in every village.

      I am enjoying my time here and would recommend the “Yichang experience” to anyone who wishes to visit China and be warmly welcomed by a safe and friendly community.
